Back Garden Transformation in Strathaven: Porcelain Patio & Sleeper Raised Beds
The owners of this semi-detached home wanted a more practical and attractive back garden. We replaced the old concrete patio and overgrown border with a spacious porcelain-paved seating area, raised beds and a lawn for the children to enjoy.
Garden Transformation
A redesigned garden with a more practical layout for relaxing and spending time outdoors.
Porcelain Patio
Large-format light grey porcelain paving creates a clean, modern outdoor living space.
Patio Landscaping
The new patio provides room for outdoor furniture, dining and entertaining.
Sleeper Raised Beds
Timber sleeper beds along the fence create organised planting areas.
Sleeper Planters
Additional sleeper planters frame the transition between the patio and lawn.
Garden Layout
The redesigned layout creates distinct spaces for seating, planting and play.
Finishing Details
Carefully finished edges and defined borders help bring the garden together.
The Finished Garden
A bright porcelain patio, tidy raised beds and a lawn create a versatile family garden.
Porcelain Patio Installation
The existing concrete slabs, turf and overgrown border were removed before the patio area was excavated. A compacted sub-base was installed, followed by large-format light grey porcelain paving in an offset pattern that extends around the side of the house.
A discreet drainage point helps manage surface water, while decorative gravel along the edges provides a neat finish beside the property.
Timber Sleeper Raised Beds
Timber sleeper raised beds were built along the fence line and filled with fresh topsoil, ready for planting. Two additional sleeper planters were positioned at the lawn edge to frame the entrance onto the grass.
A Practical Family Garden
The new design creates a clear separation between the outdoor seating area and the lawn. The patio offers space for furniture and dining, while the grass remains available for children to play.
The Finished Transformation
The finished garden combines contemporary paving, structured planting areas and open lawn space. The new layout makes better use of the available area and creates a more inviting setting for everyday use and outdoor entertaining.
